laying eggs at office and getting healthier?
I have been suffering from a lower back ache which sometimes is completely debilitating..  so much so that its difficult to get out of bed some mornings!  So my boss had been asking me to research some good ergonomic chair for the office!   I kinda ignored it at first...  but JR is really been pushing me to do this 'cuz he says he can't bear to see me in so much pain!  there i go trying to find THE BEST for my back!   and here is the result of my research!

The most modern ergo chair out there claiming it'll help me relieve pressure in my back AND also strengthen my abdomen muscles.. who could ask for more?

Although I am afraid they might start calling me a chicken..

Do men cry?

I have often wondered if men wear their hearts on their sleeves too just like women do.

Do men cry when their feelings are hurt?  Are their emotions as raw as women’s?

Why females of the species find it so easy to talk about their ‘feelings’ amongst friends, acquaintances and even blog about them for the unknown, unrelated people all over the world to read?

And why is it that you hardly ever come across a guy’s blog displaying their soft side?  And if they do feel the emotions just as deeply as women do, why is it that they find it so hard to talk about it?

But the real confusing of them all is this: that although women want guys to be open with their feelings, gals don’t necessarily find these traits very attractive either!!    e.g.:  a guy crying because a book was so emotional or at the end of a movie... does men's behavior have anything to do with how women raised them?  Or what women expect of them?

So these are the questions I would really like to ask:

How many of you have seen your fathers cry?

When was the last time you cried?  And what made you shed those tears?

Did you feel emotional when you left your parents’ home the first time – say to move to college?

Did you cry when your kids left you to go off to college or move out of the house first time?

Did someone see you crying? Especially if you are a man, do you feel uncomfortable if you end up shedding tears in front of someone?

stress testers
How stressed are you?

These pictures are used to test the level of stress a person can handle.

One teacher said, "I felt like they were all moving...but slowly.  Kind of like, they were breathing."

The slower the pictures move, the better your ability of handling stress.  Alleged criminals that were tested see them spinning around madly;  however, senior citizens and kids see them standing still.

"Feel the force!"

Reading informative sites - to get inspired, to learn what others have to say about similar issues i might be struggling with - may they be relationships, my own analyses about different life situations - puts perspectives in order (sometimes), and this morning i read an article written by Steven J. Rosen where he presents striking parallels between Bhagvad-Gita and Star-Wars..   really neat perspective he has given there..

And like so many of us struggling on a daily basis with different issues, i am struggling too!   One thats been the most difficult for me and i continue to try to attain is the emotional detachment, a state where i am completely unaffected by 'letting go'.....  letting go of everything i fear to lose!!

Yoda: Careful you must be when sensing the future, Anakin. The fear of loss is a path to the dark side.

Anakin Skywalker: I won't let these visions come true, Master Yoda.

Yoda: Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them, do not. Miss them, do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed, that is.

Anakin Skywalker: What must I do, Master Yoda?

Yoda: Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.

Action without expecting results - has been emphasized in Gita! Beautiful concepts that we come across very often but never stop and really contemplate what wonder they can bring to our lives if and only if we tried to live by them...

here are some of yoda's quotes that i often read to bring my ever so scattered mind to some level of restful state:  Ofcourse my all time favorite of them is 'Size matters not...."

  • "Do or do not... there is no try."
  • "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."
  • "Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealously. The shadow of greed, that is."
  • "Named must your fear be before banish it you can."
  • "You will find only what you bring in."
  • "[Luke:] I can’t believe it. [Yoda:] That is why you fail."
  • "Yes. a Jedi's strength flows from the Force.  But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression: the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight.  If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will"
  • "Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force. and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow.  Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter.  You must feel the Force around you: here. Between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes.  Even between the land and the ship."
  • "Powerful you have become, the dark side I sense in you."
  • "The dark side clouds everything. Impossible to see the future is."
  • "Happens to every guy sometimes this does"
  • "Feel the force!"
  • "May the Force be with you"
 have a happy fall....

love begins at home
F A M I L Y

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.

He said, "Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you."

We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said good-bye.

But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.

While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,

"While dealing with a stranger,
common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes"

By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.

"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.
I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."

I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."
He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway."

I said, "Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."

FAMILY
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company
that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days.
But the family we left behind will feel the loss
for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more
into work than into our own family,
an unwise investment indeed, don't you think?
So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?
FAMILY =
(F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

angel speaks of love
sometime ago i came across this poem and i didnt notice who wrote it... and today, (how they say?) its stuck on me...  or Im stuck on it?  thot i'd write it here to come back and enjoy!

Upon the gentle crest of waves
While the eagle flies with the dove
An angel shall appear to you
Whispering of the Power of Love

Love can move the majestic mountains
And part the waters of the deep blue sea
It fires the coals for each sacrifice
As the heart and soul bleed free.

"I shall write My Law
Upon the heart of every woman and man,"
'Tis what He said to an errant child
While gazing upon the Promised Land.

Hither and yon with furtive glances,
Some seek justice for other worldly reasons.
Yet, deep within the echoing heart
You'll hear the just cause of seasons.

Many search for purpose without discovery
To fill the void of their empty shell.
While life's soulful tear trails the cheek,
Look to the Law of Love ... He did tell.

God is Love as most will agree.
So, where is the reality in the enigma of Love?
It will not be found over here and there,
For the Law is deep within ... not even above.

Oft times a Higher purpose is found to be
And in the throws of loss we can tend to blame.
Silently, the greater wisdom of Love does prevail
As it dismisses the remnants of the guilt & shame.

Look where Love reigns within the heart
Quietly awaiting to break free.
When I openly & freely give Love to others
I am loving You & Me ... Those with eyes can see.

Were I to place a little silent condition
To imply "I'll continue loving you, but only if..."
Then, Love becomes what it cannot be...
Only a trade & not the truest gift.

If I keep Love ever close to my chest
I will never have enough for me
And no other would ever know the joy & beauty
Of my Love flying pure & free.

choices and consequences

Peter Jennings' passing has made me think about all the people in my life -friends and family - who i love and who smoke!  Thinking about all the famous and no so famous people who have died of lung cancer, especially when it was related to their smoking, makes me wonder why the sale of cigarettes hasn't been made illegal yet!!

I wonder why we even appoint the Surgeon General in this country!   Some Forty years ago US Surgeon General's report had 'revealed' that smoking cigarettes was dangerous..  yet tobacco companies have continued to flourish!!   In year 2003 alone, the cigarette companies spent over $2 billion in MARKETTING.... marketting that is targetting the kids... kids who will get addicted and thereby sustain the damn tobacco companies for a long long time, until they die BEFORE they were destined to!

Why then the governments continue to allow tobacco companies to continue to manufacture cigarettes and sell them???    Answers may not surprise many...  In year 2004, tobacco industry made more than $2 million in political contributions directly to federal candidates in the 2003-2004 election cycle.

The most outrageous of all is this.  Now the newest tactic of these companies is they are selling 'candy-flavored' cigarettes!!    pineapple and coconut-flavored cigarette called "Kauai Kolada" , citrus-flavored cigarette called "Twista Lime" ..  Not only that, kids are lured by the popular music theme images on the cartons!!   This is really sickening!

Ciggarettes have taken away some of my dear friends and family causing them lung cancer!!   These were smart people and did just about everything in their life with logic and reasoning.  They were not bad, they were just addicted!  Addicted to let tobacco companies make millions at the expense of their well-being!!

I have never smoked in my life so i dont have the slightest clue what it is like to be addicted and the difficulties in quitting.  Therefore it would be unjustified to comment on the addictions someone might have... but i know this much - and after some age and experience, every adult knows this, that they are held responsible for every action and every choice they make in life.   We are the byproduct of the choices we made along the way.   So continuing to blame some outside factors does not really solve the problem.  Ultimately, we have to make choices to have positive healthy happy and harmonious consequences.

peace
What Peace REALLY Looks Like!!!

"Peace does not rest in the charters and covenants alone. It lies in the hearts and minds of all people. So let us not rest all our hopes on parchment and on paper, let us strive to build peace, a desire for peace, a willingness to work for peace in the hearts and minds of all of our people. I believe that we can. I believe the problems of human destiny are not beyond the reach of human beings."
         —John F. Kennedy

"If there is light in the soul, there will be beauty in the person. If there is beauty in the person, there will be harmony in the house. If there is harmony in the house, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world."

Rather Remarkable Obituary

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Mr. Common Sense. Mr. Sense had been with us for many years.  No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such value lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that life isn't always fair.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in charge).  His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.  Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Mr. Sense declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student; but, could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, she spilled a bit in her lap, and was awarded a huge financial settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by two stepbrothers: My Rights and I’m a Whiner.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, write your cherished memories here; if not, join the majority and do nothing.   Poor thing.
