this class was concerned with the construction of functional, aesthetic, meaninful, and sometimes all of the three objects composed in technology. we explored the relation between a physicl object and its formal properties to its computational power and its functionality. classroom time was spent viewing graphic, sculptural, and physical design work, doing brainstorming and design exercises, and critiquing work in and out of the classroom. classwork consisted of constructing physical objects and embedding them with small serial processors (rabbits, basic stamp iis, and pics) and peripherals (speakers, microphones, sensors, peltier junctions, leds, motors, etc.), and creating accompanying graphics using proce55ing, and software graphics platform developed in the aesthetics and computation group.
