I. This software is experimental and is in a state of flux. Many functions are only accessible as shortcuts (read the help carefully!), and some icons don't do anything.

II. The User Manual is still being updated. A somewhat outdated version of it is available here.

-- If unsure about what Java version you have, please download the full version!

-- You can always check if you have the most recent version of the EE: Click "Help --> About" and compare with the version # above. Also, if the program tells you that you should update, it's probably true and you should.

-- NOTE: The program is completely self-contained; NO files are written to your Windows or any other directory apart from where you install the system. Also, it comes with an uninstaller.

Install

-- If you already have an older version 3.xxx installed, no need to uninstall. The new version will install over the older version, while preserving your settings.

-- After downloading the install file to disk, double click it to run the install program and follow the instructions.

-- Following the installation, you may want to place the sounds, videos, and images you want to play with in the mediaCommon folder inside the directory to which you installed. A folder with that name is automatically created for you when you run the program for the first time. You can also go to File --> Preferences and click Auto-Detect Media Folders, which will locate all the suitable media on your hard drive.

-- If the video seems insufferably slow, open your preferences file (located in the 'settings' folder) and change the value of UseLightWeightOpenGL to false. Make sure you don't mess up anything else in that file or your system may not work.

-- You might find the EE Shortcuts Guide useful. For further details on installation and use, please consult the tutorial and user manual .
