Nicolas Saint-Arnaud

From 1993 to 1995 I was a student in what was then called the Machine Listening Group at the MIT Media Lab.

I worked on sound perception and probability models. My Master's Degree focused on the classification and resynthesis of sound textures - that broad categories of sounds that have long-term stationary perceptual characteristics, such as rain, traffic, waves, idling engines, crowds, etc. I am always interested in hearing from other people working on sound textures.

I now live in San Francisco and work as a consultant, helping companies building products with audio and video capabilities. I also help investors understand technologies and companies, startups shape up their message to get funding, and companies involved in litigation as an expert witness.
