Hello! This is my old MIT website
For my new IRML faculty website, click here
My name is Nikolaos Mavridis, and I have been awarded my PhD from the Media Laboratory of the Massachussetts Institute of Technology in 2007 (for my CV click here).
My research is centered on designing Grounded Situation Models for Situated Conversational Assistants, and more generally on bridging language with sensing and action. To get a rough overview of what this is all about, you can have a look at this video (DSL) (modem) (newer version) featuring the robot Ripley (holding a baby shoe in photo) or read this paper (pdf)..
I was born and raised in Thessaloniki, Greece, and I enjoy maths, philosophy, cognitive science, history of science and thought, as well as poetry and music. Of course, you can find much more details about my life, research and hobbies on the corresponding web pages.
