Abstract:

Exploration of issues of using mobile agents to access computational resources distributed on the Internet. The design of mobile agent systems in which no central controller orchestrates computations is considered with an emphasis on practical deployment and safety. Java and aglets are examined as potential technologies for enabling mobile agent environments; Java's capabilities are analyzed and briefly compared with other mobile agent systems.
