Background

I am a Lieutenant in the U. S. Navy and a Senior Instructor at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  I teach electrical engineering for engineers (EE331 / EE332) and non-engineers (EE301) to prepare these students for the complex electrical systems they will encounter as officers in the U.S. Navy.  Additionally, I lecture in alternative energy systems (ES440) in the Systems Engineering Department and sustainable energy policy (FP345) in the Political Science Department.

Until June 2003, I was a submarine officer aboard the nuclear-powered, fast attack submarine USS Philadelphia (SSN 690) stationed in Groton, CT.  Prior to entering the submarine pipeline, I was a graduate student and C. S. Draper Laboratory Fellow at MIT working with Professor Joe Paradiso at the MIT Media Lab.  My interests include alternative energy systems and distributed generation; electrical energy stability, reliability and security; and energy market trends.

I leave the U.S. Navy in July 2005 and will join The Boston Consulting Group's Washington, DC, office in August.
