During his sojourn at the
MIT Media Lab
Mark helped to develop
electro-holography
or "holovideo,"
a new digital visual medium capable of interactively generating 3-D holographic images.
His doctoral research dealt with computational hardware and software systems for holovideo,
holographic bandwidth compression
and its application to display architectures, 3-D perception, and human-machine interaction.
In 1994 he received his
Ph.D.
from the MIT Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
