Video of recent performance at DeBalie in Amsterdam.
3x3 is an interactive performance project. Using an ethernet connection attached to an AVR microcontroller, the audience is able to use a web interface to manipulate lights set up on a grid in the performance space. The objective of the performer is to follow enter the illuminated segments of the stage and perform a specific action there. The performance is also broadcast as a live video stream for the remote audience. By doing this, the performance can be controlled by a remote audience as well as a live one.
For each row of the grid there is a story, and for each column a corresponding mode of expression. So, each story can be told verbally, through a single gesture, or through movement. The audience is able to construct a unique, nonlinear performance by exploring three stories told three different ways.
